How it works
For every product in the catalog the system searches Amazon through BrightData, pulls the candidate listings, and runs a strict code matching engine on model and manufacturer part numbers to pick the one ASIN that is genuinely the same product, filtering out knockoffs, multipacks and wrong sizes.
What triggers it
Unmatched SKUs in the catalog, worked through daily.
Step by step
- 1Each SKU is searched on Amazon through BrightData
- 2Candidate listings are pulled with their identifiers
- 3A code matching engine compares model and manufacturer part numbers
- 4Counterfeits, multipacks and wrong sizes are rejected
- 5The matched ASIN is written back to the catalog
Why an off the shelf connector was not enough
Amazon offers no lookup that maps a distributor's SKU to the right listing, and title matching picks look alike products. The matching rules had to be strict and catalog specific.
