Business software compared for automation
SedonaOffice vs MASterMind: which one can you actually automate?
By Jacky Lei · Updated October 29, 2026
SedonaOffice
Bold Group's alarm dealer accounting and service platform
MASterMind
MAS (a Honeywell brand) monitoring and dealer suite
SedonaOffice vs MASterMind, side by side
| Dimension | SedonaOffice | MASterMind |
|---|---|---|
| Who makes it | Bold Group | MAS, a Honeywell brand |
| API | SedonaAPI, a REST interface sold as an add on module | Microsoft WCF services and an add on API library |
| API reference | Public Swagger reference, linked from the SedonaOffice help center | No public reference; interfaces go through the Vendor Certification Program |
| Authentication | Bearer key in the Authorization header, plus a login endpoint | Not published |
| Webhooks | None in the API reference, so changes are polled | None published |
| Hosting | On premises, or hosted through SedonaOffice Cloud Services | Windows Server and Microsoft SQL Server; no vendor hosted SaaS listed |
| Accounting | General ledger, receivables and payables built in | Billing built in; keeps the detail your separate general ledger program needs |
| Payments | Card and bank tokens held by Forte, never in the SedonaOffice database | Sends cash to a payment processor, or imports it from a bank file |
| Central station | Manitou REST integration and a two way Stages sync | Is the monitoring platform, with partners such as Alarm.com, Ajax, Climax and RSPNDR |
| Reports and exports | Custom Query Builder, payroll export to Excel, SedonaSync email delivery | Report Server scheduling, emailed statements, SQL Server Reporting Services |
| Where it breaks for automation | No webhooks, and the API is a separate module you have to buy | No public docs: a custom interface means joining the certification program first |
Where SedonaOffice wins
SedonaOffice wins on documentation. The SedonaCloud API reference is public, uses a plain bearer key, and covers the objects billing automation actually touches: customers, sites, systems, recurring lines, invoices, payments, credits, service tickets, jobs, purchase orders and the general ledger. Payments stay tokenized at Forte, and API writes run the same validations SedonaOffice runs in the app, so a bad record is rejected instead of quietly saved. Bold also offers a hosted version alongside on premises installs.
- Billing and recurring revenue automation
- Teams that want a documented REST API
- Dealers who want a hosted option
- Syncs with CRM and accounting tools
Where MASterMind wins
MASterMind wins at the monitoring core. It is the central station platform itself, with a certified partner list (Alarm.com through MASterMind EX Services, Ajax, Climax, RSPNDR) that covers the signal side without custom code. Its Report Server schedules and emails reports, the EX release supports SQL Server Reporting Services, and MASweb+ gives dealers live access to MASterMind data. If your integrations are mostly device and dispatch partners, the certified route is already built.
- Central stations where monitoring is the core
- Integrations covered by MAS certified partners
- Scheduled and emailed reporting
- Teams already on Windows Server and SQL Server
The honest answer for automation
If the job is automating billing, recurring revenue or service tickets, SedonaOffice is the one you can build on from public docs today: buy the SedonaAPI module, poll for changes, and write back through the same validated endpoints. MASterMind can be integrated, but the documented path is the Vendor Certification Program, so a custom build starts with a conversation with MAS rather than an API reference. Many alarm companies run a monitoring platform beside an accounting platform, so the honest answer is often both, with SedonaOffice as the system your automations write to.
Lean SedonaOffice
Lean SedonaOffice if your automation lives in billing, recurring revenue and service, and you want a documented REST API to build on.
Lean MASterMind
Lean MASterMind if monitoring is the core of the business and your integrations come from MAS certified partners rather than custom code.
SedonaOffice vs MASterMind: FAQ
- Does SedonaOffice have an API?
- Yes. Bold Group sells SedonaAPI, a REST interface, as an add on module, and the SedonaOffice help center links to a public SedonaCloud API reference. Bold notes the API is also required for its Time and Attendance, eForms and Sales Automation modules.
- Does MASterMind have an API?
- MAS lists Microsoft WCF services and an add on API library for MASterMind EX, and runs a Vendor Certification Program for software vendors that want to build an interface. We found no public endpoint reference, so a custom build starts with MAS.
- Is MASterMind a Bold Group product?
- No. MASterMind is made by MAS, a Honeywell brand. Bold Group makes SedonaOffice, Manitou and Stages.
- Can either system push changes to us with webhooks?
- Neither documents webhooks. The SedonaCloud API reference has none, and MAS publishes none, so automation on either system polls for changes on a schedule.
- Can SedonaOffice and a central station platform share data?
- Yes. SedonaOffice documents a Manitou REST integration, which needs SedonaAPI 2.0 version 1.46.0 or later, and a two way sync with Stages.
